CHERRY, American: Prunus serotina American cherry grows throughout Midwestern and Eastern U.S. The wood is stiff and strong and very dimensionally stable. The heartwood varies in color and darkens with age and exposure to light. Cherry is relatively free from warping, easy to machine, and glues and finishes exceptionally well. Uses include cabinetry, fine furniture, flooring, paneling, turnings and carvings. Average weight is around 36 lbs. per cubic foot.
