BLOODWOOD: Brosimum rubescens Bloodwood is harvested in South America. The wood is extremely durable and very resistant to insects and decay. It bends well and has a high crushing strength. The heartwood ranges in color from a grayish red to a dramatic crimson. When finished the texture is silky and lustrous. Popular uses include flooring, marquetry, fine furniture and inlays. Bloodwood weighs in at 62 lbs. per cubic foot. Janka scale: 2900 (125% harder than red oak.)
